It should be noted, despite there being some occasional glimpses of life, what actually awaits players looking to play Killzone: Shadow Fall online in 2022 isn't always ideal. Still, thanks to the fact that Killzone’s official website has been shut down, aspects of the game like its clan system will forever remain completely inaccessible. It’s not hard to envision there being occasional bumps beyond this footing throughout the year, as Sony’s seasonal PlayStation Network sales frequently lower Shadow Fall’s price. Anyone seeking to do more than that is going to be sadly disappointed, though, as the game’s dedicated player base is too low for anything else to be viable. In terms of specific game modes, only variations on Team Deathmatch and Killzone’s Classic Warzone mode are selectable, as an error code awaits anyone trying to get into the game’s once popular 24-player Domination mode.Īt certain points in the week, particularly in the evenings and at weekends, it’s technically possible to still get into a full Team Deathmatch lobby. On an average day in 2022, four official lobbies that were created by Guerrilla Games remain the only options accessible to players. Even though it's still technically possible to get into a multiplayer lobby, thanks to the fact that the game’s servers are still online, there’s now only a handful of options and players awaiting those looking to do so. It won’t come as much of a surprise to anyone, considering how the game launched nearly a decade ago, but Killzone: Shadow Fall’s once vibrant community has now all but evaporated. Since Killzone: Shadow Falls’ launch alongside the PS4 in 2013, though, the franchise has gradually faded from the spotlight. In the franchise’s heyday, Killzonewas a popular staple in the PlayStation first party lineup. With the studio having become a powerhouse amongst Sony’s first party lineup following the success of Horizon Zero Dawn, it’s sometimes easy to overlook the studio’s journey up until Aloy’s creation. It’s for these reasons that fans have been looking to the past recently, highlighting first-person shooters that were presented as answers at the time like Guerrilla Games’ Killzone: Shadow Fall. This isn’t the first time that these sorts of questions have been presented to the Japanese corporation back during the PS2 and PS3-eras, the topic of how Sony would challenge Microsoft’s Halowas often a popular topic of discussion among players. PS Now also has a seven-day free trial, in case you've got a week off work and fancy a binge. Now that my memory has been jogged, I think I might just have to try it out for a month and blitz through the best of what's on offer. And I'll say it again, it's the only way to play Red Dead Redemption on PC. So, does this change my mind on picking up PS Now? Well, I wouldn't pick it up for the new games alone, but the update has reminded me how many great games are available on the service – here's our list of the 10 best. Resogun is worth a look if you're into bullet hell games. With God of War III you know what you're getting, and it's one of the best hack-and-slashers about. I've never played it but I blasted my way through earlier games in the Killzone series, and had a good time. It was well-received, especially for its visuals and flashy set pieces. Killzone Shadow Fall is probably the biggest of the bunch. Sadly no Bloodborne yet, but we can only hope for the future. You can ignore most of them because they're already available on PC (Evolve, Tropico 5, Saint's Row IV, etc) but a few interesting PS exclusives have been added, namely Killzone Shadow Fall, God of War III Remastered and side-scrolling shoot 'em up Resogun. Sony have just expanded the games on offer by adding PS4 games for the first time, as they promised they'd do back in March. But there are a lot of great titles there, and it's the only way to get the likes of Red Dead Redemption, Heavy Rain, and Shadow of the Colossus on PC. That's probably because of the price: it's a keen £12.50 a month to stream PS games to your desktop or laptop. The PlayStation Now streaming service hasn't got a lot of love since it launched last year.
